Wandering in the Red WHAT District?!

Pulling her top-hat rim down further over her face to protect her distinct facial markings from being spotted, Nadia steadied her breathing. She gripped the long knife in one ivory hand, the other hand clenching tightly at the khaki-colored heavy gentleman's coat she'd donned as her disguise.

That evening at the theatre was supposed to be a splendid one. She was supposed to have enjoyed that ballet and gone straight back home to the Outskirts, with no one the wiser. But no.

That bratty little human child, who was terribly rude, had to run into her and rally other humans after her when Nadia tried to avoid discovery. Well, she had dealt with the pursuing humans. All 8 of them lay, face-down and dead, littered through the alleyways for the rats to feast. The last of them she got rid of just before she turned out onto this busy street.

But why where there so many red lights here? And flashing signs and banners, and such a bustle that it hurt her ears. So many human males stumbled and staggered and swaggered about. And the potent scent of....copulation....was in the air, assaulting the swan-hybrid's elegant nose.

Amber eyes averted, she quietly and calmly changed her pace to that of a slower-going older gentleman, as she was disguised as. She didn't know where she was--just that the path to this place was ideal for making people "disappear".

She'd succeeded in making those men disappear. Now how in Swan's name was she going to get out of here? She was going to be in so much troub--

Nadia instinctively and smoothly turned in an arcing and nimble movement, adroitly avoiding a tallish man with dark spectacles, who seemed to be a guard of sorts at a doorway that was filled with the sounds of tittering females. She'd nearly bumped into him....

A tall dark skinned man spared a smile at a beautiful woman who brought home an intoxicated client. Some ladies giggled as the walked passes him and some only nodded as they held onto their current client. There were a few times that the ladies would have bad hustlers and they had to be tossed out.

The night was busy as usual there was only a few interruptions but they were quickly disposed of. The House Mother hated disruption in front her brothel.

"Good Evening Jax" a woman with brunette curls nodded to him as she strutted inside the building, two men following behind her; one gave him a look while the other lustfully gazed at the woman in front of her.

"Good Evening Charlene" Jax sighed with a smooth tone, he spared a look to the men before the scurried off behind the woman. Jax the brothel's bodyguard, behind his dark glasses, his eyes burned as they began to scan the bodies of the men the women brought with them. People brought there weren't preempted in the brothel building if they were carrying a weapon with them.

There was a pause before he gave a brief nod at the man hidden in the darkness. The man nodded and pulled back his weapon and stood back in place.

But other than that nothing advent-full as been happening.

As the body guard of "Gatto Nero" the brothels in the Red Light District, Central Sector, he made sure to keep them protected and it wasn't hard since he was metal-man.

The streets were filled with noise, staggering men and seductive women, it was sight he's seen repeatedly. So it felt out of place when saw an older man walking slowly along. That sent alarms to him and the other, it meant that man had something to hide.

The moment she avoided him, he didn't seem to take note of her unusual grace, given the role of the older gentleman that she was playing.

Nadia thought this fortunate, as she didn't want to be put in a position to fight this man. Already, she sensed there was something odd about this human.

She had just spun aside from him and was facing him at an angle to keep him in her sights, when she saw alertness cross his features, despite them being hidden behind dark glasses.

Oh no, not tonight.

She couldn't afford to be discovered tonight. Not at all. It had begun as such a refreshing evening....

Nadia considered attempting to glide away. She had made it a point to stay out of this man's reach. Yet as she side-stepped to make more ground between herself and the building she was near the entrance of, she was forced to avoid two women with little clothing on their hour-glass forms, bringing with them nearly three males apiece.

One of the women shouted at her in annoyance, and Nadia knew it was time to go.

"Hey, watch it!" a long red haired woman sneered as a old hunched over man almost bumped into her.

Her girlfriend with short black hair instantly came into the fray "We're walking here, can't you see" She walked over to the hunched man and swatted him on the shoulder.

Jax frowned, the women weren't one of their best, they had a body to die for but it there attitude that turned many people down. The men they were bringing in were being to lose interest, if the House Mother were to find this out, he wouldn't know what she'll do with these women.

With a sigh, Jax left his post to break up the one-sided fight, "Ladies calm down." He placed a hand on each of their shoulders, "Candy, Flora" he called out to the ladies, who looked up at him with a pout.

Candy, the red head, looked up and crossed her arms "He almost bumped into me." she shuddered "I didn't want grim to rubbed off on me without punishment"

Flora, the short black haired one, bobbed her head "Yea, but he's hot we'll probably forgive what he almost done"

Jax gave them a smile "Candy, Flora, you already have enough of men over there" he pointed at the men who, in their disappointment, only two stood standing, the others must had grown bored and walked away. "Or not" he felt the women slump, the other two must had been so drunk and ready to ride the waves of pleasure that they didn't seem to mind the wait, their minds were probably showing them something that wasn't happening.

"We lost some customers again" Candy groaned, she partnered up with Flora because they can bring in more customers together then by themselves.

Flora gave a high pitch wining sound "Grr, it's all his fault, if he didn't bump into us then we wouldn't be in this mess!" Candy nodded in agreement, "So that means you owe us!" Furiously Flora went to grab at hunched over man's hood.

Nadia lithly took a few steps back, ducking her head so that the rim of the old top-hat would continue to cover her face. She couldn't afford to get caught.

And were all humans so frightfully repulsive? These women had agressive voices--why, she'd heard a few crow-hybrids she knew sing sweeter. Nadia shook her head to herself, only to realize she had done so physically, and not just mentally.

Time to go, she reminded herself, and turned away fast to not be uncovered. Yet someone rammed into her from her left, forcing her to turn hard right--and into the grip of the vicious and harpy-like human female.

She tried to grip the rim of her top-hat so it wouldn't be pulled off to expose her face. In the process, she revealed a slim ivory hand, too feminine and delicate to be an old man's. She prayed that no one would notice. It would make less of a scene than if her face were revealed.

That woman--she could pull quite forcefully! It was now a tug-of-war, and one that Nadia desperately didn't want to lose...

Jax frowned before grabbing Flora's hand that was tightly gripped to the man's hood. He jerked her back, her body hitting his chest, he looked down at her behind his dark glasses "Stop it" he ordered, her eyes widened at the action, her brows creased, she didn't think Jax was going to get stern with her.

Jax looked over at Candy who was pouting, he gave a smile "Now, why don't you ladies go and take care of your men. You don't want House Mother to get involved"

"Get involved in what, Jax?" A pleasant, sensual and powerful voice called out. The other occupants stiffened at the added presence. A gorgeous woman, long red to brown mix hair, curled and dropped passed her back. A tall woman dressed in the finest of robes, jewelry and face light with make up. The top of the robes opened, revealing ample of breast, never leaving ones to their imagination, they got what they see. Green and blue eyes shadow and luscious magenta lips. Stern yet motherly green eyes, stared at the scene before her. Who had a long red cigarette holder pressed to her lips.

House Mother was a sight to see, already in her 40's she still looked like a woman in her mid 20's, she stood tall and proud, she was graceful and smooth, many still wanted to bed her but she would always politely refuse. Though she wouldn't mind sharing drinks with them.

She was the House Mother; Aisha, Falicia, Amber, she went by many names always changing, she was never one to stick with one name.

Jax looked over at her and smiled "House Mother, good evening, you are looking lovely as always"

She smiled and removed her red cigarette holder, "Don't cajole me boy" Smoke left her lips, instead of making it look distasteful it successfully added to her grace. "I go by Aisha tonight" She said to Jax before taking in the situation, the two girls, the remaining men and the hooded figure.

Jax nodded, "Of course" he saw her glance at everyone "We ran into a small problem but nothing I can't fix"

House Mother Aisha blinked and smiled, she looked at the men who were entranced with her "You can go home, the girls won't be doing any business tonight" And with that the men walked away in a daze and determination, they wanted the House Mother, it was a pity that she's off limits and Jax will make sure of it.

She sent the girls a chilling smile before they skirted off back into the brothels, they were going to get a tongue lashing and will mostly likely be on clean up duty for a long time. House Mother Aisha sent the hooded man a charming smile "I'm sorry that they disturbed your evening, please let me make it up to you."

"House Mother" Jax stressed in warning.

She only smiled "We have spare rooms, he can have a room for tonight" she gave the hooded man a look "As long as he doesn't touch the girls, he can be set up for tonight and tonight only"

Jax frowned "Yes House Mother"

She found attention being called to herself by yet another human who emerged from the colorful entrance that the bodyguard had been protecting, and the abrasive female humans who were attempting to pull off her disguise.

Nadia backed away the moment her coat had been released, and was all but ready to bolt, when the woman who emerged apologized and gave her a sweet, disarming smile. She immediately sent the others away, leaving only herself, Jax, and Nadia.

There began a dispute (more one-sided than not) between the man and woman, and the woman clearly won. Thinly veiled terse words passed, asserting her authority, before a pleasant smile again returned to the woman's face, and she eyed Nadia once more.

"We have spare rooms..." continued 'Aisha'.

The words caught Nadia off guard. She turned her tilted head to look at the buxom female who was exhaling that strange, oddly smelling smoke. From under the rim of her top hat, she saw the discomfort of the bodyguard male, Jax.

"As long as he doesn't touch the girls, he can be set up for tonight and tonight only."

Nadia was a little dumbfounded. Stay with the humans? What better way to completely get caught? As it was, her disguise was on pins and needles. One more slip..... Yet, if anything, Nadia was always a cool-headed thinker. She settled her stiffening feathers and thought things through. It's late. If I return now it will be obvious that I was sneaking out. Then I'll be in trouble with the others.... But, if I return, say, tomorrow, and with some information, then I can say I was on a mission gathering data.

It seemed sensible enough, though the risk was huge and Lionel would perhaps chew her out. Hopefully, Leilah would be there to take her side....

Nadia glanced from the bodyguard back to the still-smiling woman. It would be rude to keep this--what was she? House Mother?--waiting too long. Nadia nodded to the woman, clearing her throat in a slight honk to attempt to disguise her obviously feminine voice.

Hopefully, she knew what she was getting herself into. Just one night, right? What was the worst that could happen?

Softly, Nadia clutched her hidden dagger to her breast.

House Mother Aisha, nodded in the hooded man as she passed him to enter "Gatto Nero" brothels. Jax spared the man a look before going back to his post, once the man was inside he was at the mercy of the vixens inside, alluring yet dangerous.

Aisha strolled into the building with power and grace, upon entering, they were greeted with opened rooms, most of the rooms held the same karaoke, drunken men and half dressed women. Couches were curled in so that a man can have two women on both sides, an usual flat screen TV held on the wall.

The lights were of warm colors and violets, flower petals lettered the floor by sun rise the mess that they created will be cleaned up. It was rather loud but neither people were effected by each other. Smoke of incense and nicotine filled the air, it's apparent that everyone their are experiencing second hand smoke.

The women smiled and held up glasses filled with alcohol as the House Mother walked passed them. Aisha waved at them, some blew drunken kisses and some never paid her any mind as they were getting their work done.

They proceeded down a hallway after walking through the drunk and smoke invested room, they passed a check in guard. A young lady; a lady too young to be working in the brothels. She checked in the hooded man and allowed him passage. She looked as if she was a girl in-training.

They walked up the wood stairs, the light was dim until getting to the next floor, doors on either side of the hall. Aisha looked back "The rooms are sound proof, it's exciting to hear others but it can get distracting and annoying when they are too loud"

The hallway was lit by warm amber lights, that took on a tole of romance instead of a one night stand. Walking down the hall, they meet up with a couple that was saying good bye to each other.

A man with short dark curls, violet side cape, with gloved hands he cupped the woman's face. She had a soft face long brown hair that was held up in a pony tail and bangs falling in front of her face. She was very beautiful, she closed her eyes as her lover leaned down to capture her lips.

Aisha smiled "Good evening my lord Silverhollow" she greeted as the two pulled apart. They turned to look at her, then they can clearly see how handsome the man was, gray-blue eyes and despite the funny goatee, he was quiet fetching. And not only was the woman beautiful, she had soft pink hair and fair skin, her beauty was to be recoded with but it apparent that the woman was aging.

The lord sighed, he glanced at the woman again "I'll take my leave now, Ryth"

The brunette smiled "Keep safe of your way back Evan"

Aisha stepped aside to the let the lord through, with slight bow the lord didn't give them a spare glance as he continued to the exit the building. Green eyes blinked before smiling at the other woman. "Ryth Simmons" the pink eyed woman perked "Show our guest a room for tonight." Aisha walked closer to her "He is not to touch the girls, one free night and that's all. He is gone in the morning" she glanced over her shoulder to the hooded man "How ever early you want to be gone, will do" she said with a venomous smile.

She focused back to Ryth, she placed her hand on the woman's shoulder. "I'll leave him to you, good night" the House Mother then disappeared from their sights leaving the two alone to do what's next.

House Mother likes her because of her demeanor and the fact that she can reel in some cash heavy clients, aka Saleim.

So I guess that means two permitted characters, House Mother Aisha and Saleim's lover Ryth.

Nadia was resisting choking on the thick fumes of disgusting scent that came from the small white rolls so many humans were puffing it out of.

What had one of the hybrids told her they were? Cigarettes? Well, the scent was revolting.

The swan elegantly pulled the lapel of the overcoat against her nose as subtly as she could, so her small ivory hand wouldn't give her away. She'd kept her dagger ready in case any of the drunken humans lurched at her.

Suddenly she and the 'House Mother' were at the top of another flight of steps, and the atmosphere....changed. It was more pleasent and cozy. The two of them continued, Nadia keeping the powerful woman's back in her view, until the woman paused.

Nadia did so just as suddenly, appearing to settle lightly, like a leaf placed to rest by an autumn wind. She peered under the rim of her top hat to spot a man embracing and kissing a woman. Amber eyes reflected them in a curious gaze. What on earth were those humans doing?

"Good evening, my lord Silverhollow."

Nadia watched the man pass by, otherwise ignoring everyone. She narrowed her eyes at the greenish cape when the man left. But the two women were already exchanging words, and before Nadia knew it, the 'House Mother' had already left her alone, standing with the woman 'Ryth'.

"........." Now what? Thought Nadia, with careful calm. She liked the countenance of this human woman, compared to many of the others downstairs. She didn't seem to be in the same league as them. Rather, she was much more pleasant.

Nadia wanted to find a room and settle down as soon as possible, but she also wanted to explore for information. She was supposed to be back at the Outskirts tonight, but a little detour would be an excuse. Especially if she learned something.

Attempting a deeper cough-honk, she asked shortly, "My room?"

Ryth looked down at the raven, his head slightly on her lap as they continued to cuddle. Her body only in her pink under garments, curled on her side, her lover still in his clothing. Tonight they were just basking in their presence. She knew something was bothering him but she didn't know what, he mumbled something about asking a man named "Moki" to assist him diagnosis the new metal men that needed "to go online", a term only used for scientist that had knowledge in technology.

Her dear Evan, she gazed at him as her fingers combed through his hair, despite being stressed, he looked a little more relaxed. He still wore his cloths and boots, his violet cape the only thing taken off. They laid on her light pink bed, it was a large almost oval chapped bed, sensual pink lamps and lanterns hung in the two corners of the room. It was defiantly a woman's room, almost everything was pink except for the amber lights.

She laughed when Evan first came to her room, he was surprised and yet expected as much. He praised her on the decor though he commented that he knew nothing about decor only that it pleased him greatly.

They spent more time just babbling to each other that they both dreaded the lose of their presence. Her dear Evan sat up after checking the silver pocket watch, Ryth gave a sigh as he leaned over her and placed a delicate kiss upon her lips.

He hugged and kissed her neck as she began to put on her lavender night dress, a gorgeous gift from her Evan. It was her most recent gift from him. Once his half cape was secure, she walked him to the door of her room. They whispered sweet nothings to each other, she closed her eyes as allowed her lips to be taken once more.

"Good evening my lord Silverhollow"

A voice called out, it startled her at first but her lovers stature kept them from view. They gave the new comers their attention, her House Mother Aisha and it looked like an old beggar tagging along with her.

Pink eyes looked up at her lover, yes her lover was Saleim Evan Silverhollow, a noble, a man that should had not even acknowledge her excitant. She was beyond her prime in the brothels, the only thing keeping her there was that the House Mother truly liked her. And she didn't have the heart to send Ryth away; she was almost like the House Mother's only friend to confined in. Not only that, as long as Ryth is there, the Silverhollow Lord will keep coming.

The lord sighed, he glanced at the woman again "I'll take my leave now, Ryth"

Ryth smiled "Keep safe of your way back Evan"

She watched as her lord disappeared from her sight, she was about to go back into her room when House Mother called her.

"Ryth Simmons" the red to brown mixed haired woman called "Show our guest a room for tonight."

Ryth listened to her requested, nodding as the Aisha touched her shoulder before moving on. There was almost an awkward silence between Ryth and the old beggar man,

"My room?" the old beggar said.

Ryth smiled after watching the man, "Follow me then" she waved to him and went into a room beside her own. She left the door opened for the old man, upon entering she went to the lamp and turned on the light, instantly the room was filled with color. Almost an odd color of choice, a soft light green with almost disgusting wall border, the bed was full with cream like cover and windows that was closed to the outside. Despite that, the room was a complete mess, cloths were thrown carelessly on the bed and floor, shoes littered the floor and a weird almost baby power mist filled the room.

"This room, is usually empty" she coughed as she pushed over some cloths, some fell to the floor. She sighed in disappointment, she hadn't mean for the cloths to fall but they did anyway. "Sorry," she turned to the old beggar "Me and the girls up here, use this room as a quick storage room" she smiled and placed a finger to her lips "As long as House Mother doesn't know, we don't have to clean it"

"You can change into anything, there are spared blankets in the closet over there" Ryth before moving to the door, she paused as she noticed something off about the old beggar as before. Her hand on the knob, she didn't want to get involved but she needed to crave her curiosity, with a gentle push she closed the door, sealing both of them in the room.

She turned to the beggar and she smiled sadly "Um, if you have a moment, you looked like you're troubled?" she cocked her head "maybe hurt? Should I bring a Aid kit to you?"

Nadia stiffened, her arm-feathers bristling, when she heard the door shut and the woman, Ryth, didn't leave. Instantly, her hand flexed on the hidden dagger. Then the words broke her cool concentration. Something about Nadia being hurt? Needing help?

Well, she certainly needed help, whatever an 'Aid kit' was. The sad smile on this Ryth's face was so genuine....

I don't have any qualms with all humans. Just her, thought the swan to herself, a vengeful pang dancing down her spine. But this woman... How would she react if she discovered Nadia was a hybrid?

In answering, and as a test, the swan shifted in two long-legged recherché strides to get close to the woman. Lifting up her head in a proud, neck-arching movement, Nadia locked her amber eyes with Ryth, the rest of her face in shadow. Burrowing her gaze into the others, she saw--

No ill will.

It would be risky, yes, but Nadia could give it a shot. If things went too crazy, she could just kill the woman. Slowly, Nadia let an ivory hand glide up out of the gentleman's coat-collar, gripping the rim of the top hat and, removing it completely, didn't so much as twitch a muscle. She looked Ryth in the face, and didn't bother to disguise her voice.

"I do need some help," she replied softly, still clenching the dagger behind coat lapel, ready to strike if any reaction went awry. "I need some information. If you're willing to help, then please, tell me what I want to know."

Ryth took a step back when the beggar walked close to her before steading herself, House Mother made that the girls would be able to fend for themselves if they find themselves in a pinch. She won't show any fear if the beggar happen to attack her, Ryth laughed in thought, even if she could defend herself she'd most likely loose the fight.

She blinked when the beggar looked at her, the beggar's eyes were of shimmering amber, 'Eh?' if anything it confused her, why would a human have amber eyes like that.

"I do need some help," the beggar but no longer a beggar spoke.

Ryth's eyes widen, she didn't expect that it was a Hybrid, she frowned, what would a hybrid be doing here. She gasped a little, is that why House Mother was escorting the beg–hybrid because she knew.

"I need some information. If you're willing to help, then please, tell me what I want to know."

She was so absorbed in the hybrid beauty that she almost missed what the hybrid said. "Eh?" Ryth cocked her head "Um, information? What..type of information? If the information is something that I know, then sure I can help"

Her grip on the dagger relaxed. The swan felt that she could trust this woman, and surely her instincts had been correct in this. So she didn't waste any time in getting to the point. "I heard that hybrids disappear around these areas. Where do they go, and who is responsible?"

Peering out from the dark mask markings, Nadia's xanthous eyes took in every gesture as she drank in every word the woman Ryth was saying, unblinking. She adjusted her overcoat to take the tension out of her slim shoulders, tilting her head in a gesture melifluous and soft. When the other was done, the swan dipped in a graceful ballerina-bow, her way of thanks.

"Is there anyone else who knows about this incidence? Can you tell me who?" Her idedic memory brought to surface the image of the man who was guarding the entrance to the Gatto Nerro, then the house mother in turn.

She waited for this Ryth to continue.

Ryth blinked at the question, hybrids have been disappearing? She's never heard of hybrids disappearing. It took awhile before it dawned on her, 'Oh! Disappearing?'

Ryth cracked a smile as she heard what the hybrid asked her. "Well....I guess you can we are"

The swan stared at her, realizing that the information was not going to be given for free. Though she was normally greatly patient, Nadia did not have a lot of time to waste.

"Do not speak in circles," she returned coolly. She liked this human, but the obstinance that this Ryth was showing was detestible. Nadia's ego was being stung by this woman thinking to fool her with word-tricks. "Do you, or do you not know where the hybrids are being taken?"

She arched her neck, the soft marbled feathers at the nape blending into her hair, fluffing up partly. "Who can I speak to that will actually help me?" she added, trying not to be rude. She wouldn't use her dagger, decided the hybrid. Her regular tactics would be enough...Lionel usually used force as a persuasive method, so maybe Nadia could give it a try, if all else failed.....
