That was another one dead.
Chewing at his bottom lip nervously, Gold narrowed his eyes at the drooping flower, head tilted to the side. The plant’s petals were brown, ugly and warped, and though it had once been a shining lily, the once white flesh of its petals was now withered and dry.
Did…did the gardeners forget to water the plants again? If so…if so Master Nicholas would be mad. Whitestag after all, did pride themselves on their hanging gardens, and though this plant had been on the ground, it didn’t say very much for the House.
Particularly because it seemed as if this plant had been left to die...that, and Whitestag did pride themselves on their lilies. Prodding at a withered brown leaf with a soft sigh, the young cobra shook his head before he dug his fingers into the ground beneath the dead plant, twisting his fingers beneath the roots, and with an upward tug, pulling the plant from the ground in a smooth motion that sent dirt scattering in all directions.
Wincing slightly as some got onto his tights, Gold grimaced before he held the plant out; taking care to keep its dirty roots away from him as he stood in a movement that was far too smooth for a human. “I’d best ssssakes sissss one ssso sssse compossss bin…” the cobra murmured aloud, stepping on the clean white bricks with careful precision- it wouldn’t do to dirty them anyways. And the garden was so pretty, pristine even…and Gold did so like to spend his time here when he wasn’t with Master Nicholas.
He was able to spend his alone time here, when he wasn’t lounging in the laundry chute or the sun- and as such, it was his duty (particularly as the pet of the young Whitestag heir) to keep the hanging gardens clean, right?
Nodding his head in affirmation to his own thought, Gold took another careful step forward, and then another, only stopping when he made it too the compost bin situated at the back of the garden, where he dropped the dead plant with a plop atop the rest of the slowly composting dirt and other withered greenery, though he wrinkled his nose at his stench.
The compost bin might help keep the plants nice and green, but it did tend to smell quite horrid- particularly in the noon sun.
Stepping back from it (if a bit quickly) Gold paused, resting the urge to fiddle with the white lace situated beneath his collar. His hands were still dirty after all.
Which brought him to his next train of thought….what to do next?
Turning to look down the path that led towards the trellises, as well as the fountain situated in the middle, Gold chewed at his lip before he frowned.
Well…he supposed should wash his hands first…and the fountain had clean water….
ooc: This is the best I could come up with XD Soo yes. Gardens :'D Cause they're pretty.

Blaaah my muse is dead, so this is going to be short and sour ><Elliot wandered through the scenery, keeping to himself, and enjoying the sights silently. The exotic brat beside him was a different story, though; he strutted alongside the chinchilla, staring over the plants on display with a light frown.
"These flowers are strange." The peacock proclaimed loudly, seemingly having decided that he didn't like their current location. Elliot sighed a little, tucking his hands deeper into his pockets. "They're lillies, Opal." He murmured, his voice dwarfed by the peacock's. Opal scowled. "But they're boring." he decided curtly, frowing.

Flicking his fingers to get rid of the residual droplets, Gold pulled his hands out of the fountain, rubbing them dry on his tunic with an internal wince. He’d need to do laundry soon. And convincing the Whitestag maids could be a very…daunting task.
Stepping away from the trickling fountain, the cobra sighed, quite ready to go back to the manor and begin negotiations before a bubble of speech entered his range.
Though not an uncomment event, particularly since the Hanging Gardens were quite popular, the voices were unfamiliar- and it was odd to hear voice’s that he wasn’t used to in the gardens. Only a particular lot tended to frequent them, and well…Gold hadn’t heard these voice before.
“…strange…”
“Lilies…”
“…boring…”
Frowning at the last muttered word, Gold blinked. Boring…they…thy couldn’t be talking about the gardens could they? Okay, so they weren’t the most exciting of things but the garden’s weren’t boring! They were peaceful and beautiful and they filled you with joy and first and foremost, they were exotic! None of the other Houses had hanging gardens after all!
Lips pursed, the cobra’s eyes narrowed and he moved forward, quite ready to educate these people (because well, as the Whitestag heir’s pet it was his duty to make sure that Whitestag was appreciated, right? Not to mention that had also said lilies, and thus that implied that the lilies were boring and well, to put it simply the lilies were Gold’s favorite plants in the garden), Gold moved further towards the direction of the chattering voices, only to stop as they came into view.
For one, these weren’t humans.
For two- they were hybrids, and though the collars around their necks indicated they were pets, the cobra’s frown couldn’t help but deepen and all thoughts of rectifying the poor passerby’s beliefs flew straight out the cobra’s gold head.
Unfamiliar hybrids after all were threats.
And well, threats weren’t very good.
“You sssere! Who are you?” not bothering to keep his voice low, Gold tilted his head to the side, the picture of a snake surveying its prey, eying both the unfamiliar hybrids with a keen eye.
One was a chinchilla- about his height, but older. Fluffy tail, gray hair and ears and rather dull looking clothing. He seemd to have been the quieter of the two voices. The other though…Gold grimaced. The other was another story altogether. A peacock-right plumage, rather short and flashy clothes…master Nicholas had always said you should never trust flashy people.
Smile at them, but don’t trust them. Flashy people after all, think that they rule the world- and well..they had…egos. And well, Gold knew from an early age that people with egos were quite frightening people indeed.
Taking a cautionary step back, Gold gulped, before he set his features again. “Was…wass are you doing here?”

Elliot looked up at the new voice from where he had been studying the ground so intently, blinking. A hybrid. Another hybrid. Tensing a little, he cleared his throat softly. "O-Oh... we're from Gray household..." he answered lightly, his ears twitching some. "W-We're just here to look... Master Bastian said we could go anywhere, and he wanted to look at the gardens..." He gestured a little to the peacock as he spoke.
Opal huffed softly, rolling his eyes and glaring off to the side. "I thought it would be more entertaining." he snorted, clearly in a pouty mood. The chinchilla almost rolled his eyes in exasperation. "They're just flowers. You can't even do anything with them." he whined, perching his dainty hands on his feminine hips. His flashy outfit rustled a little in the light breeze, the rich, amethyst purples and blacks stirring. The clothes fit snugly to his body, save for around his hips, where a bustle of sorts flared out, drooping low, towards his knees, in the back, but only hanging about midway down his thighs in the front. It was truly hard to tell if his outfit was meant for a male or female. Dusty, on the other hand, contrasted sharply with a soft, powdery gray blouse and dark brown trousers that reached his ankles, with simple black leather boots.
"... Opal, be nice." Elliot mumbled under his breath, one ear almost flattening with awkwardness. The peacock turned to glare down his nose at him, but held his tongue, his feathers bristling just slightly.

“Ssss…ssse Gray Household…?” Fumbling slightly with the words, Gold frowned before he nodded slowly. “Sss….seey are in…Goldsbloom….right?” Although his fingers twitched as the rival House’s name slipped off his tongue, Gold did his best to keep his annoyance off his face. Just because he didn’t exactly care for Goldsbloom (which was putting it lightly) that didn’t mean he could allow his opinion to influence his view of these two.
Besides, from what he had heard, the Gray family was but a branch of the Goldsbloom house-perhaps they would be a bit different than the main family itself. Doing his best to smile, the cobra almost made an attempt to apologize for his rather rude greeting before the peacock spoke up once again.
Frowning indignantly at the other hybrid, Gold narrowed his eyes, unable to keep his opinion to himself. “I…I’ll have you know ssasss.ssat you can do plenty of ssing wiss flowers! You…you can weave crowns and ssay make rooms smell nice! You can even give ssem to a lover!” Still frowning at the peacock, Gold removed his hands from his hips- during the course of his little tirade, they had somehow gravitated there. Wiping his fingers on the already rather dirty fabric of his tunic, Gold bit back an annoyed huff, cheeks puffing out as he fought to keep from sighing in agitation.
About to turn his back on the two with an indignant twirl (he had been watching Master Nicholas after all), Gold winced internally as he heard the chinchilla mention the other’s name. However annoyed he was at these two (or at least, at the peacock-the chinchilla had thus far done nothing to agitate him) Gold gave into the urge to sigh before he gave an apologetic bow. “…er….my..my apologiessss. My…my mousss...gos away from me.” Straightening, Gold wrinkled his nose before he held out his hand. “M…my name isss Gold. It was…rude of me…to force…my opinion on you wissout introducing myssself first.” Squirming slightly in place, the cobra glanced away, hands clasped behind his back. “Master Nicholas would be annoyed…” he muttered under his breath before he shook his head and hiding a grimace at the mere thought before he turned to look at the two hybrids once again, this time with a smile-however weak it was, on his face. “….perhaps…perhaps I could show you around sse gardens….?”
There. Hopefully that would be enough to make up for his small social faux pas.
ooc: Sorry about the late reply! D:

~No problem~~
Opal scowled haughtily at him. "... Oh, please, reptile." He snorted softly, almost under his breath. Elliot's ears squished against his hair, Opal's rudeness being embarrassing to him. "I-I'm sorry..." he apologized out of instinctive habit, glancing over to where the peacock had turned to study a bush of roses and baby's breath with a frown. "He's... um... he's....." Unable to place a *kind* word to describe his friend, he shook his head, turning back to face the boy.
"Who d-do you work for...?" he inquired lightly, trying to spark a weak conversation. "I think it would be lovely to work here every day..." he mused, turning to glance up at the flowers.
"They're just plants."
"Opal, shut up."

Narrowing a copper hued glare at the peacock, Gold’s lips downturned into a frown. “Sssey’re not jusst flowerss…sstupid bird...” he mumbled mutinously under his breath, before he turned to look back towards the more agreeable of the two hybrids.
“Who…who do I work for?” Repeating the question with a cock of his head, the cobra’s face seemed to instantly light up-the mere prospect of speaking about the boy he served sent butterflies throughout the hybrid’s slight frame. “I…I sssserve Masster Nicholasss! He is…he isss the mosssst wonderful person in exissssstence! He ssssaved me you know-from the HHS. It is an honor working for him! He…he isss sse best Master I could ever ask for…sso kind and considerate…” face flushing as he realized he was getting carried away, Gold scratched at the scales lining his cheek in embarrassment before he smiled, this one considerably kinder than the few weak grins he had directed in the others’ direction before. “…he…he is just wonderful. I care for him greatly….and…” giving an embarrassed laugh as he looked down to his toes, Gold gave the chinchilla a sheepish grin. “…I don’ss exactly work here. I’m just visiting really-much like you two are…it’s just…the gardenss are so nice…and as they’re in Whitestag they’re Massster Nicholas’s and…” trailing off as the flush on his face brightened in hue, the cobra winced briefly before he cleared his throat.
“…I’m just looking after them for him…ssass…sssat's all…” All too aware of the blush covering his cheeks, Gold frowned at the peacock briefly before a weak smile came onto his face. “……all of the flowersss in Whitessstag have a meaning you know. Sssose baby’ss breath you’re looking at…they mean festivity, and cheer. The rosessss I’m sure you know…but ssey’re meaning can change on depending on their colors. Red means love; white, chassstity; yellow, friendship.”
Moving to a bed of lilies, Gold smiled at the other two, though the grin he directed towards the peacock was quite a bit less full of cheer. “…liliesss are a sign of purity. Each flower…each flower symbolizesss what Whitessstag is about. I doubt any of the other housesss have anything so wonderful.”

I'm sorry my posts aren't that long e.e I'm having issues with muse.. ><
Elliot smiled as the hybrid began to go on about his master and the flowers. He seemed to lead a happy-enough life. Of course, his own life wasn't terrible, but it certainly didn't sound this good.
Nicholas... sounded vaguely familiar. He didn't trouble himself too much with the politics of the land, though. Opal sort of knew more than he did, but the peacock was elsewhere, scorning the plants. From what he could gather, though, this was the land of milk and honey for the reptile.
Bastian wasn't so bad, really. Of course, he never really seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself in anything, but maybe what he enjoyed most was neutrality...? How would Dusty know? All he knew was that the man loved to play with his endurance and emotions, which was alright, he supposed. Then there were the few times where he'd hit him... but it could definitely be worse. Opal... well, he didn't seem to strike him nearly as often. In fact, Elliot couldn't remember him ever laying a hand on the fowl--though in all fairness, he didn't watch over Opal every moment of the day. But Opal was different from Elliot. Where Elliot was emotionally anchored under Bastian's thumb, Opal was the mantlepiece, and they both knew it. No one expected Opal to lift a finger; just to follow Bastian around out in public so the man would look as classy and expensive as he was. Elliot... well, he.. he was the punching bag, so to speak. But that was okay with him, strangely. Opal didn't seem to have the slightest problem with their predicament, either, and so it would continue on, unbothered.
"... That sounds nice." he commented lightly when he had successfully stuffed his thoughts away.

"...it doess...doessn't it..." Gold murmured fondly, his expression much softer than the near scowl it had been before. "Wordssss cannoss desscribe how much I care for Masster Nicholass...serving him...is...iss all I could ever asssk for." Flushing slightly in embarrassment over his own words, Gold glanced away, gaze glued avidly at the flowers in front of him as he fought to overcome the blush on his cheeks.
"Ah..bus...bus enough about Master Nicholas...you two...you two serve the same Master....am...am I right? That...that must be interseting, righss? I mean....if ssey are kind enough so sssake swo...two petsss at once...they must be very kind....righss? It musst me nice.....right?" Directing a smile, towards the two, and in a bit at trying to draw the peacock in the conversation. While the peacock had been a bit of an....annoyance.....to say the least, it had still been rude of Gold to try to force his opinions on the other hybrid. That being said, Gold couldn't keep calling them Chinchilla and peacock...and he had introduced himself already. "Ah....that remindss me....whas....whass are your names...?"
Wincing at his rather blunt delivery, Gold grimaced. He really was making quite a few social faux pas...and Master Nicholas had taught him better....teeth worrying his lip, Gold sighed and then shrugged. And well....a snake he might be, but he wasn't the most subtle of creatures when he didn't see the need. Besides, the chinchilla had been nice so far...and while the peacock was a bit rude, he hadn't been openly aggressive. That...that at least said something for the other's character, right? And…and it was too late to take back his words. That would be even ruder-implying that he didn’t care about their names! And…that was just…Gold’s nose wrinkled. Well, he could never be that rude!
“ahh! But…but after that..perhapsss I could take you on a tour of sse gardens…? Sse..ssse bessst part….is sse hanging flowers! They’re presssy, you know!” Wincing as his voice emerged as a squeak, further mangling his already hissing speech, Gold bit his lip before he bowed, deeply, face red with a blush than even tinted the color of the scales on his cheeks. “M…my apologies…I…I am noss usually sssiss rude…or…or scatter brained…sssoday… sssoday isss….it isss an off day….”
ooc: It's fine~don't worry about it. I can deal with either short or long replies-besides I know my muses tend to waver as well Oscar in particular can be rather difficult XD
